ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – A local couple, both teachers in the Wilson Central School District have been charged with public lewdness following an incident inside a bathroom at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Wilson Central School District Superintendent Michael Wendt only found out about the allegations when News 4 started investigating. Now, the district is doing its own investigation.

Arrests during a sporting event are not uncommon, and this past weekend was no different. Erie County Sheriff’s deputies arrested nearly 30 people on many different charges. However, two arrests stand out from the others.

35 year-old Jennifer Rotella and 38 year-old Michael France were among those arrested, both elementary school teachers, who work for the Wilson Central School District. Rotella is a teacher at Stevenson Elementary School and France is a teacher at Thomas Marks Elementary School. Both are charged with public lewdness.

Sources tell News 4 the pair was caught having sex inside a bathroom at the Bills stadium. France’s wife told News 4 her husband was stopped while leaving the lavatory, but she wouldn’t confirm if he was alone or with someone.

We stopped by both homes, but no one was available to speak. Rotella’s love for teaching was apparent. A student desk is used as a lawn ornament in front of her house.

The principal of Stevenson Elementary School posted a letter on the school’s website, saying, “We are constantly striving for better communication between parents, staff and our community.” Yet neither the principal nor the superintendent, Dr. Michael Wendt, would comment on the allegations because they’re personnel issues.

The open letter goes on to say, “Our goal [is] to help each child become an intelligent person of character. Each staff in our building plays an important role in that process.”

Both France and Rotella are due in court later this month to answer the charges. A Bills spokesman says, “We do not comment on arrests that are made on game days at the stadium.”
