Corasanti juror admits drunk driving

Corasanti juror

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A former juror in the trial of Doctor James Corasanti now admits he was driving drunk. John Jankowiak Jr. pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DWI on Wednesday.

His most recent arrest came last month in Orchard Park, just hours after he was acquitted of DWI and found guilty of a lesser charge in Buffalo. He will be sentenced in the Orchard Park case in January.

Earlier this month, the Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita spoke about Jankowiak’s arrests. The same day Jankowiak received his verdict, he was arrested again.

Sedita said, “After his verdict apparently he was celebrating and 12,13,14 hours later gets picked up at oh four o’clock in the morning in Orchard Park this time, drunk as a skunk.”

Jankowiak Jr.’s Attorney Michael Bly Santa Maria said, “It wasn’t as though he was up for murder and he got off. I don’t think that was a night of going out and celebrating, he shouldn’t have been going out and he did but I don’t think it was a way for him to thumb his nose to the law.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
