Man killed in hit and run accident

 TOWN OF EVANS, NY (WIVB) – The Town of Evans Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian hit and run accident.

Police say that at some point overnight, Barry Moss, 52, of the Town of Evans, was walking on the westbound side of Route 5, Erie Road, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling west toward the Town of Brant.

The accident occurred near Gold Street. The vehicle left the scene and it was several hours before Moss was located.

The Evans Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle involved.

The vehicle that is believed to have hit the victim is described as a newer Ford SUV vehicle with front and side passenger damage.

The area where the accident occurred is known for accidents involving deer. If someone hit something, and believes they may have hit a deer or other animal, authorities are asking that they contact the Evans Police Department as soon as possible.
