Lauren Brill joined WIVB/WNLO-TV News 4 in August 2012 as a sports anchor and reporter. She is thrilled to be in a city that shares her passion for sports.
Lauren hails from the New York City area where she worked as a reporter/host for MSG Varsity, a 24-hour high school sports network. During her tenure at MSG Varsity Lauren received six New York Emmy nominations, including one for “Best Sports Series.” The series, which Lauren created, produced and hosted, highlighted young athletes competing in unusual sports such as baton twirling, unicylcing and downhill mountain biking. She also created a segment at WIVB called Athletes 4 Inspiration, which showcases the challenges athletes have overcome to reach a certain level of success. Lauren received a 2014 AP Award for the segment for Best Sports Coverage. In addition to MSG Varsity, Lauren has also worked for Fox Sports Next, The Boxing Channel, Nike Women and Top Rank Boxing. Besides her work in front of the camera, Lauren has extensive experience as a print writer, working for a plethora of outlets, including NBA.com , WomensProSccer.com and ESPN’s Girl Mag. She attended Columbia University, where she majored in sociology.
Lauren developed a passion for sports during her childhood, playing soccer and lacrosse. In high school Lauren’s classmates voted her “Biggest Jock” in their senior superlatives. She continues to be active, running, boxing and rollerblading in her spare time. A love for sports planted the seed for Lauren’s career but it’s her passion for storytelling that has been the driving force behind her ambitions. She has shared many athletes’ stories and believes the best part of the job is the people she meets along the way. It is her hope that the greatest story she tells will be her own, as each person she encounters and every tale she tells seems to write another page in her own life’s narrative.
