ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – Bills Defensive Coordinator Mike Pettine will interview for the Cleveland Browns’ Head Coaching job, after Buffalo granted the Browns permission to talk with him.
Pettine, who joined the Bills for the 2013 season, guided a defense that made big strides last season. The Bills ranked near the top of the league in both sacks and interceptions, setting a new franchise single-season record with 57 sacks.
The Bills also had several defensive players enjoy breakout seasons, with safety Aaron Williams, linebacker Jerry Hughes, and defensive tackle Marcell Dareus among the players stepping up.
Cleveland has reportedly interviewed several candidates – mostly from the offensive side of the ball – in their coaching search.
Jay Glazer from FOX Sports is reporting the interview with Pettine will take place Thursday.
