Human remains found in Rochester yard

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A 62-year-old psychiatrist is scheduled to be arraigned on charges connected to the discovery of a missing person’s remains in his Rochester backyard.

Local media outlets report that Dr. William Lewek will be arraigned Friday morning in Rochester City Court on charges that include tampering with physical evidence and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities said Thursday night that a body found behind his home Wednesday evening was identified as that of 32-year-old Matthew Straton, who had been missing since October.

Police had gone to Lewek’s home Wednesday night after getting a report about the human remains.

Authorities haven’t released additional details about Lewek or the investigation.

They say Lewek doesn’t yet have a lawyer. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
