Inn houses displaced family for free

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – A home on Hyde Park Boulevard in Niagara Falls has been condemned after a SUV smashed into it around 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

Niagara Falls Fire Chief William MacKay says the driver of the SUV who hit the home had a medical issue that caused him to lose control of his vehicle on Porter Road before hitting the home on Hyde Park Boulevard.

The family inside the home was uninjured and initially intended move to another apartment owned by the same landlord, but that plan fell through.

However, after learning of their plight on social media, the manager of the Comfort Inn in Amherst offered to house the family through Tuesday at no charge. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
