WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Witnesses say a knife-wielding man rushed into a fitness center on Seneca Street in West Seneca around 9 p.m. Thursday night.
In this photo sent to us by a viewer from Planet Fitness, West Seneca Police officers say they are subduing 24-year-old Louis Doll.
Jackie Sullivan, an employee who works the front desk, told News 4 that Doll walked in with a knife while a gym member was leaving, and says he was screaming that he was crazy.
“That look in his eyes, he was not kidding around,” she said. “It was very scary because I thought he would go after me first since I was working.”
Sullivan says Doll went around the gym holding the knife and kicking over garbage cans while taunting members. At some point, he tried to leave the gym, but members blocked Doll’s path to avoid letting him leave until the police came.
According to Sullivan, when police arrived officers instructed Doll to drop the knife, but he refused. Police say after they ordered Doll to drop the knife, the man took a fighting stance, and a Taser was used to incapacitate him and take him into custody.
Doll was removed from the gym while screaming and threatening to kill police and himself. Officers say no one was injured in the incident, even though several gym members were in close proximity to Doll throughout the ordeal.
“I’m very glad no one was hurt,” Sullivan said. “I didn’t get hurt and everything is back to normal.”
Doll is charged felony menacing a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned and taken to the Erie County Holding Center on $20,000 bail and ordered to undergo a forensic evaluation.
