NYS won’t pay for Gabryszak’s defense

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) – A spokesman for NYS Attorney General Eric Schneiderman tells News 4 the Attorney General’s Office has denied Dennis Gabryszak’s request for the state to cover the former Assemblyman’s legal fees in the event a lawsuit is filed.

Gabryszak resigned last Sunday a day before the State Assembly went back into session. Seven women, who all worked for Gabryszak at one time, have come forward accusing the former Assemblyman of sexually harassing them. Their attorneys say they will seek monetary damages for emotional distress and lost time at work, but so far no lawsuit has been filed.

Gabryszak’s attorney Terry Connors says he will challenge the ruling denying coverage of legal fees in State Supreme Court if the women do file a lawsuit.
