BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – The Buffalo Museum of Science and Independent Health will present Independent Health Community Health Day on Monday, January 20, 2014.
All museum guests will receive free general museum admission and may enjoy family-friendly activities focused living a healthy lifestyle.
The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with special activities offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the museum’s Hamlin Hall and health science studio, Explore YOU presented by Independent Health.
“Independent Health is proud to present Community Health Day at the Buffalo Museum of Science,” said Michael W. Cropp, M.D., president and chief executive officer, Independent Health. “This event is a great way to keep people well informed by educating them about the benefits of healthy lifestyles. We all have a role to play in creating a culture of health in Western New York and the Independent Health Foundation has planned activities that will educate families about the importance of exercise and proper nutrition.”
The day’s activities will include:
- The Independent Health Foundation – Participate in a variety of interactive health and wellness activities and challenges designed to educate and engage families to adopt healthy habits and make positive lifestyle changes.
- Dental Hygiene Clinic -Erie County Community College will provide resources on hygiene instruction and comprehensive dental care for kids and families.
- Catholic Health Systems of WNY – free cholesterol, diabetes and blood pressure screenings for adults 18+
- Unyts Blood Drive – 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
