Trump out? Insiders say no

Buffalo, NY (WIVB) – Those close to Donald Trump say reports that he is no longer considering a run at New York State’s top office, are false.

WHAM 1180, a radio station in Rochester, is reporting that Trump will not be running for governor following a meeting with another possible candidate, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino.

Michael Cohen, Special Counsel to Donald Trump, says that report is based on an email that has been taken out of context. In an email to WIVB Cohen stated, “There is nothing in the e-mail stating Mr. Trump will not run. Anything to the contrary takes my e-mail completely out of context.  The email was nothing more than a call for action to the 4 individuals who have been actively involved in the Trump draft  for Governor. The goal was to advise them of the meeting and to have them continue their calls to top GOP leaders, continue to make calls and increase support for Mr. Trump.”

“Only Mr. Trump can make a decision whether he will or will not run for Governor. Mr. Trump has not made a decision yet,” the email continued, “Trump wants the Republican party to unite behind one candidate and one candidate who can win. Trump is the only individual who could defeat Cuomo, and possibly easily.”
