MEDINA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Middleport woman who was employed as a payroll coordinator at Medina Memorial Hospital for 22 years has pleaded guilty to stealing nearly half a million dollars.

Linda Rakonczay, 58, admitted transferring money from the hospital’s corporate bank account to her personal bank account over a period of 11 years. The hospital filed suit against the former payroll coordinator last February in an attempt to recoup their losses.

Rakonczay will be sentenced in May for wire fraud and filing false tax returns. She could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
