CO stabbed multiple times with a pen

Orange is the lucky color this year for those selected as food judges. We gather at 11 am at the Hampton Inn and put on our shirts!

A corrections officer was taken to the hospital after an inmate allegedly stabbed him multiple times with pen.

The officer was preparing to search 34-year-old Michael Head’s cell at the Attica Correctional Facility when authorities say he was attacked. Officials say Head was quickly subdued and both the officer and the inmate were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

After he is released from the hospital, Head will be transferred to another maximum security facility to continue serving his second degree murder sentence out of Suffolk County.

Officials say Head will be facing internal charges in the prison system as well as criminal charges.

The name of the corrections officer was not released. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
