Car hits pole, strikes home

There were no injuries in a crash that closed a portion of North French Road, in Amherst, Friday morning.

A driver tried to avoid another vehicle and struck a power pole, around 8 a.m. The car then veered into a home, where it struck a gas meter. That crash caused a gas leak.

The crash left wires down on top of a semi and another car. A person inside of that car had to wait to get out of the car until National Grid removed power from the wires.

The crash closed the busy roadways for about an hour during the morning commute. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
