Man distracted before rearending bus

Deputies say a man was distracted shortly before crashing into a bus in Brocton early Friday morning.

The sheriff’s office says the accident happened when a Brocton Central School bus was stopped on Rt. 20 with its lights flashing and another vehicle had stopped behind it. According to deputies, 28-year-old Michael Manganiello was distracted by something off the road and hadn’t noticed the bus and vehicle had stopped.

Road conditions made Manganiello unable to stop in time and authorities say he sideswiped the stopped vehicle and rearended the bus, which had two students on board.

No one was injured in the accident.

Manganiello was ticketed for speed not reasonable and prudent.
