Volunteers work phones for Super Sunday

AMHERST, NY (WIVB) People of all faiths are helping the United Jewish funds in Buffalo reach its super Sunday goal of $150,000.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Buffalo hopes to raise over 2 million in its campaign that began in September. Eighty percent of the funds raised stay in the Greater Buffalo community. The other 20% goes to Israel and 59 other countries where the needs are the greatest.

The money that stays in WNY often helps people of all faiths including those who are homeless or seek help from Jewish Family Services.

News 4 Senior Correspondent Rich Newberg and reporter Ed Drantch are among the many volunteers working the phones today.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Erie County Legislator Ed Rath are also making calls at the JCC in Amherst.
