St. Bonaventure upset a top-25 team for the first time in more than 14 years Wednesday night, topping 21st-ranked UMass 78-65.
The Bonnies held a 26-25 lead at halftime and never gave it back. UMass rallied to pull back within one point with eight minutes left in the game, but St. Bonaventure answered with a run of its own to put the game out of reach.
Five Bonnies reached double digits in points, led by Charlon Kloof’s 14.
The win snapped a 24-game losing streak against ranked opponents. The Bonnies’ last win against a top-25 team came back on January 15th, 2000, when J.R. Bremer’s game-winning three gave St. Bonaventure a 56-55 win over Temple.
