Man who shot at snow plow driver sentenced

A man who shot at a Gowanda Village Highway employee while the worker was plowing snow off the sidewalks on Palmer Street last Feburary was sentenced to probation on Wednesday.

Thomas Barone, 41, was convicted of second degree attempted assault and fourth degree criminal mischief. Last February, Barone used a pump-action BB gun and shot at the worker from the front door of his home. The BB hit the snow plow’s side window, breaking the glass and sending shards into the worker’s face.

Barone had apparently previously made complaints about his sidewalk not being plowed properly.

In addition to probation, he was fined $500 and ordered to pay $623.63 in restitution. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
