BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -Sunday’s big game is just as much about the players going head to head on the field, as it is about the food behind the scenes.
This year Delaware North Companies Sportservice is providing the food, drinks and retail services at MetLife Stadium for the Sunday’s Big Game.
Bill Lohr, the General Manager for Delaware North at MetLife Stadium said this is the first time in decades that a company has done all three.
In an effort to get ready for the big day, the Buffalo based company pulled out all the stops. They started by preparing a year in advance.
“About twelve months ago we started really looking at menus, crafting up plans on staffing the building. We knew we would need a lot more staffing than we normally have for a regular game” said Lohr.
Nearly three thousand employees have descended upon East Rutherford, New Jersey for the big game. “We’re really getting the staff in the right mindset to say we’re about to do the biggest event of our careers. I tell them I have done every big event there is but the Super Bowl is just different” said Lohr.
In the kitchen, Executive Chef Eric Borga is giving patrons a mouthwatering experience. It was inspired by the 5 boroughs of New York City and the Jersey Shore.
Of course there will be the old favorites. There are twenty-one thousand hot dogs and seventy-five thousand chicken tenders ready to go.
However Chef Borga also put a spin on the food, with eleven new items. The chipotle chicken and beef short rib tacos is just one of the new options for people to choose from.
“Nobody has more to do with their experience after their ticket is scanned than we do. We understand that and we don’t take that lightly at all” said Lohr.
