DNA connects man to March 2012 chapel break-in

Batavia Police say they used DNA evidence to connect 34-year-old Shannon Cook to the break-in at Discovery Chapel in March of 2012.

Nothing was taken in the break-in at the chapel on West Main Street, but personal belongings were left behind. Officers say Cook was required to submit his DNA in an unrelated criminal conviction. After determining Cook as a suspect in this break-in, police say they were able to use his DNA submission to link him to evidence found in the chapel.

Cook is charged third degree criminal mischief and third degree criminal trespass.
