SPCA investigators in Erie County are looking for the person who put a handcuff around a cat’s neck.
The animal was spotted on Duerstein Street in West Seneca on Monday by a person who saw the handcuff around the cat’s neck and called the SPCA. The concerned person cornered the car until officers arrived and took it into their care. found the cat, who they say is very sweet-tempered. The cat, now called Anastasia, did not seem to be impaired by the handcuff, but investigators say that based on the condition of her fur and discoloration, “the cuff has been around her neck for quite some time.”
Officers tried several times to remove the handcuff, but were unable to unlock it. Tuesday morning, the SPCA transported Anastasia to Suburban Lock and Key on Delaware Avenue in Kenmore where, for $25, a key was provided to unlock the cuff.
Investigators say Anastasia is thought to be around 2.5 years old and weighs six pounds. Officers say even with a handcuff on her neck, Anastasia is very sweet-tempered. nyone who has information on how she ended up with a handcuff around her neck should call 875-7360.
