ALDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) Brandon Mays aka “BMayzee” is a 16-time Motocross champion. Motocross, which is essentially racing dirt bikes, poses a high risk of injury. After racing since age seven, in 2008 Mays, who is now 20, had a life-threatening accident. Eventually he was forced to quit the sports after doctors told him one more small accident and he’d spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
The news was devastating but Mays chose to channel his energy into another interest. He began creating music that catered to the Motocross community. He found a new passion, without completely disregarding his former life.
Through Mays’ story he proves that even when one chapter of one’s life ends, as the author of one’s own life, its up to oneself to chose how to write the beginning of a new story.
