Late rally not enough, Sens top Sabres

The Sabres rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period, but a late Ottawa goal sent Buffalo to its fourth straight loss, 3-2.

The loss comes in Buffalo’s final game before the NHL’s Olympic break.

Tyler Ennis and Drew Stafford scored in the third period to tie the game at two, but Ottawa’s Milan Michalek gave the Senators a 3-2 lead with just 23 seconds left in the game. A late Sabres power play effort fell short, handing Buffalo yet another loss.

Jhonas Enroth stopped 33 shots in his final tuneup for Sochi. Enroth is one of the goaltenders for Team Sweden this month.

Buffalo will return to action before anyone else, hosting Carolina February 25th in a makeup game. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
