Man injured in crash was allegedly drunk

State Police say a Dunkirk man who crashed his vehicle into a snow embankment was intoxicated.

Troopers were called to State Route 20 in the Town of Pomfret around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning for a one-vehicle accident. Police say 49-year-old Robert Beck III of Dunkirk struck a sign post with his vehicle before crashing into a snow embankment.

Authorities say Beck was injured as well as intoxicated. He was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital for treatment and later released.
