Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and friends skated circles around the Sabres at times, in a 5-1 win Wednesday night.
Buffalo’s defense struggled mightily at times, allowing highlight-reel worthy goals to both Crosby and Malkin.
“For our team, we need everyone. We had a couple guys no-show tonight,” said interim Head Coach Ted Nolan. “Playing one of the better teams in the league, you’d think they’d be excited to play, and a couple weren’t.”
The loss marked the Sabres’ final home game before the Olympic break. Buffalo hits the road to take on Ottawa Thursday night, then won’t play again until February 25th.
