BUFFALO, N.Y.(WIVB) – The eviction sign recently went up at a popular pizza restaurant in the Elmwood Village.
Court documents reveal John Fusco, owner of Zetti’s at Elmwood and Bidwell Parkway, owed $9,000 to landlord Donald Leone. Fusco had agreed to make two payments of $4,500 each, and failed to make those payments, according to court documents. The result was an immediate warrant of eviction.
Fusco was an outspoken critic of food trucks back in September of 2011. News 4 is trying to reach him for comment, as well as the landlord.
Zetti’s at 4621 Maple Road in Amherst remains open. Fusco came to Buffalo around four years ago with his New York style pizza recipe.
With the Elmwood location closed, it leaves 3,500-square feet of vacant space on the strip. The Elmwood Village stretches almost two miles and has close to 300 spaces. The occupancy rate is 98 percent.
The Elmwood Village Association expects the location to be snapped up quickly.
Executive Director Carly Battin said, “I think a restaurant would be a natural fit there. Otherwise we have a really good mix of businesses here already, so I’m sure there is something that could fit into that mix really well.”
