A man driving a 2013 Dodge Caravan used to deliver Meals-on-Wheels from the Allegany County Office for the Aging to the needy was involved in an accident on Thursday.

Deputies were called to County Road 31 in the Town of Scio around 2:40 p.m. on Thursday for a one-vehicle accident. Authorities say 75-year-old Richard Edwards of Allentown lost control of the vehicle, which is used to deliver Meals-on-Wheels, and crashed into a ditch.

Edwards was taken to Jones Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released. The Allegany County Office for the Aging says the van was not seriously damaged, but they are always looking for help reaching more people in need.
