Bowlers hit lanes for “Spare a Pair” event

AMHERST, N.Y.(WIVB)- Hundreds of people hit the lanes in Amherst to support the fight against breast cancer. This is the first ever “spare a pair” event. It rolled off Sunday night at Transit Lanes.

Teams raised money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation in western New York. Some of the money goes to research, with a large portion helping local women get the treatment they need.

Susan G. Komen of Western New York Executive Director Juliana Janson said, “Our organization helps primarily low-income people to get their breast health needs met.  So we’re very grateful for any idea that people bring to us that could allow more funds to come to our organization.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
