State Police say a man took two vehicles without permission and managed to crash both into a ditch.

Troopers were called to a home on Rt. 246 in the Town of Covington on February 7 on reports a vehicle had been stolen overnight from the resident’s driveway. Authorities located the vehicle nearby in a ditch on Taylor Road.

An investigation led to the arrest of 40-year-old Jason Babbitt of Pavilion, who troopers say not only took a vehicle without the consent of the owner on February 7, but also took a second vehicle without the owner’s permission and also crashed that vehicle into the ditch on another date.

Babbitt is charged with second degree aggravated unlicensed operation and two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

After being arraigned, he was taken to the Wyoming County Jail on $5,000 bail.
