Tip from police in FL leads to drug bust in WNY

A tip from authorities in Florida led the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office to arrest a LeRoy man on drug charges on Tuesday.

Deputies say the drug enforcement task force got a tip that a package containing suspected methamphetamine was being sent from Lakewood, Florida to an address on Farnsworth Avenue in the Village of Oakfield.

After confirming the package had been delivered, deputies waited until 42-year-old Mark Puma left the home before initiating a traffic stop. According to authorities, Puma had Adderall in his possession, and a K-9 officer gave a positive alert on Puma’s vehicle.

Inside his vehicle officers found the package and say it did contain methamphetamine.

Puma is charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and possession of controlled substances outside of the original container.

He’s due back in court at a later date.
