A two-car accident on Route 31 in Lewiston closed a half mile of the roadway for over an hour and a half Wednesday morning.
The accident happened around 11 a.m. when police say 69-year-old Robert Doll tried to turn left onto Garlow Road but failed to yield the right of way. He was struck by a vehicle driven by 82-year-old Donald Triechler of Sanborn, who was driving with his wife, 78-year-old Nancy Triechler.
Doll was uninjured and was cited for failing to yield. Mr. Triechler was taken to ECMC and may have a fractured sternum. He is listed in stable condition.
His wife was flown to ECMC by Mercy Flight. Immediately following the crash, she was not breathing, but troopers were able to establish and maintain her airway until paramedics arrived on scene. She is listed in stable condition.
