Leaders join fight to save St. Francis of Assisi

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB)- Two state senators are joining the fight to keep Saint Francis of Assisi school open. Senator George Maziarz and Senator Mark Grisanti have both written letters to the diocese.

They say the Tonawanda school deserves to remain open because enrollment is up and it’s sitting on a half-million dollar endowment fund.

Some students are already registered for the next school year at St. Francis of Assisi, even though it’s one of the ten Catholic schools slated to close at the end of this school year. The school community wants to get enrollment numbers in to show how strong the student base is.
