Meeting to focus on fending off Asian carp

BUFFALO, N.Y.(WIVB)- Members of the Army Corps of Engineers want to let you know how they plan on fending off the Asian carp invasion. They will host a public meeting Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the downtown library.

Their report explores a range of options to prevent the spread of nuisance species, like Asian carp, between the Great Lakes and Mississippi River basins.

A presentation on the report will begin at 4 p.m. followed by a comment period. The presentation is on the report that identifies eight potential alternatives, from continuing current efforts to complete separation of the watersheds. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
