Officers find extremely malnourished dog in woman’s home

A 29-year-old Batavia woman is facing charges after police officers say they found an extremely malnourished pit bull inside her home.

Patrols were called to Nina Kelso’s home on Hutchins Street on February 4 after receiving a report about a dog being mistreated. Officers say the pit bill was so malnourished, it was unable to stand or move on its own.

The dog was taken to the State Street Animal Hospital, where it continues to receive treatment.

Kelso was arrested on charges of torturing or injuring animals, failure to provide sustenance, and owning or harboring an unlicensed dog.

She is due in Batavia City Court on February 18. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
