Tom Muscarella is Chairman of the 2009 Taste of Buffalo. We caught up with him tending to any one of a thousand details he will tackle during this long weekend. Believe it or not, his day job is with the Erie County Health Department as Senior Public Health Sanitarian. Seems like the right man for this mission!

LANCASTER, N.Y.(WIVB)- Lancaster Police say a 19-year-old woman admitted to throwing a hypodermic needle out of a vehicle during a traffic stop. Police say they stopped a vehicle on Pavement Road after spotting it drive around a lowered railroad crossing gate.

While speaking to the driver and his passengers, police spotted the needle in the snow. Police say a female passenger admitted to throwing it out of the vehicle, and also admitted they were headed into Buffalo to buy heroin. She was taken into custody and charged.

The 16-year-old driver was operating the vehicle without a licensed driver over the age of 21. He was issued traffic tickets.
