Woman caught after victim gets fine in mail

BUSTI, N.Y. (WIVB) – It may have taken a month, but State Police say the long arm of the law caught up with a woman who used someone else’s name during a traffic stop.

Troopers say 27-year-old Laci Lawson of Ashville was ticketed in January for having an uninspected motor vehicle, but she used someone else’s name. State Police were alerted when the victim got a $93 fine due in Town of Busti Court.

Investigators determined the real person driving that day had been Lawson, and that Lawson does not have a driver’s license. She is charged with having an uninspected motor vehicle and third degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

For allegedly lying about her identity, Lawson was additionally charged with second degree forgery and criminal impersonation.
