WELLSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – The county administrator in Allegany County was arrested and charged with DWI after an accident on Thursday.
Police say they arrested Mitchell M. Alger, 31, of Wellsville in the village and charged him with driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater and aggravated DWI.
A statement released by Board of Legislators Chairman Curt Crandall said:
“As chairman of the Allegany County Board of Legislators, I have been informed that Mitchell M. Alger, county administrator, was involved in an accident and subsequently was charged with driving while intoxicated. At this time, we are quickly gathering as much information as possible on this matter, which includes being in contact with Mr. Alger’s family. Mr. Alger is currently on sick leave and the daily duties of the county administrator are being handled by our regular administrative team, as is normal procedure when the administrator is on sick leave or takes vacation time. As soon as facts about this situation are confirmed, we plan to share further information with the public. In the meantime, all county offices and departments will continue to conduct business as usual.”
