First Niagara shifts some work to Amherst

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – First Niagara Bank is moving more operations here to western New York. Business First reports the bank is closing its mortgage processing center in Syracuse and shifting some of the workload to Amherst.

So far, it doesn’t appear this will bring any new jobs to the area. Fourteen jobs at the Syracuse office will be lost, but those employees can apply for other openings in the company.
