Guns stolen in string of burglaries

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Authorities believe four burglaries could be connected, and firearms could now be in the hands of criminals.

Investigators say sometime between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, someone broke into the garage labeled “Tom’s Guns and More” in the Orleans County Town of Ridgeway. They found no guns there but stole a fire-radio and some shotgun rounds.

A few hours later, 13 miles away, someone broke into Art Kinne’s Gun Shop on Route 77 in the Genesee County Town of Alabama and stole seven shotguns.

And in the past four days, two homes were broken into on East Shelby Road in East Shelby. Tools were stolen from one, while guns were stolen from the other.

State Police believe all four burglaries could be related.

Investigator Michael Notto said, “The similarities are time of night, basic description, a small pickup truck seen at the different burglaries. Again, we’re in the beginning stages, so we’re comparing notes and we’re trying to get this together and hopefully we’ll have more information later on.”
