Car fire at Adesa Auto Auction starts building on fire

I interviewed young Lucas Lowe after he lit the Tree of Hope. He told me he was thinking about a space ship lifting off when we were counting down to the lighting. 5-4-3-2-1!

NEWSTEAD, N.Y. (WIVB) – Fire crews rush to a two-alarm blaze at Adesa Auto Auction on Main Road in the Town of Newstead around 9:15 p.m. on Friday.

Dispatchers tell News 4 the fire has been mostly extinguished. The blaze started in a car in the body shop, which then spread to the building. A security guard spotted the fire and called for help.

A second alarm was called because heavy smoke was seen but the fire was less major than initially feared. Crews were able to extinguish the car fire before it caused significant damage to the body shop.

The building has a hundred other cars inside of it, and had it caught fire, the blaze could have quickly become enormous. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
