Baron’s 34 keys comeback win over NU

LEWISTON, N.Y. (WIVB) – Billy Baron scored 34 points, leading a second-half comeback to give Canisius a 71-65 win over rival Niagara Friday night.

The Purple Eagles led by five at the half, then extended that lead to eleven in the second half after Antoine Mason’s only three-pointer of the night.

Canisius started chipping away at that lead, thanks to a 9-0 run that tied the game at 52 apiece. A Chris Perez layup with less than a minute to go gave the Griffs the lead for good.

Mason, the nation’s leading scorer, put up 17 points in the loss. Canisius held him to just one-for-seven on three-pointers. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
