PITTSTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) – A man who parked his car on a frozen pond and fell asleep behind the wheel was charged by troopers with drunk driving.

State Police received reports of a car off Tamarac Road in the Town of Pittstown in Rensselaer County. Troopers found the vehicle parked on a frozen pond and saw 29-year-old Kyle Weed sleeping behind the wheel.

After being woken up, authorities say Weed told them he didn’t remember driving onto the pond and admitted he had drank “a lot” of alcohol.

He was taken to Samaritan Hospital to be treated for minor injuries and a blood sample was taken.

Weed is charged with DWI and is due back in court at a later date.
