Mo Rocca studies Millard Fillmore in WNY

EAST AURORA, N.Y. (WIVB)- CBS Sunday Morning’s Mo Rocca was in town last month. He did a story on the famed chicken wing, and also a second story on President Millard Fillmore.

The nation’s 13th president lived in East Aurora, helped found the University at Buffalo and is buried at Forest Lawn. Historians also consider him one of our worst presidents.

Author Paul Finkelman said, “He’s bigoted against Catholics. He’s bigoted against Jews. He hates blacks. During the civil war he basically supports the confederacy by the end of the war.”

Rocca said, “But, Fillmore did lower the price of the postage stamp.”

Finkelman said, “He did lower the price of the postage stamp. Mazel tov.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
