Drivers deal with tie ups on major roadways

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Motorists faced backups and major congestion on some area roadways Tuesday.  The morning commute included some slick roads, especially on the secondary roadways.

In Clarence, a vehicle flipped onto its side on the I-90 West.  On the I-190 South on Grand Island a SUV went off the road.  Emergency responders also assisted a vehicle on Route 400 inbound, after it went off the roadway. There is no information available on whether there are any injuries.

Drivers on Kenmore Avenue also faced problems Tuesday, near Englewood Avenue. Crews were making water main repairs between Englewood and Niagara Falls Boulevard.

There were also accidents that caused traffic back-ups on Route 5, Route 219 North, Route 33 East and I-190 South.

A plow driver told News 4 that drivers should be careful, because roads are slick this winter.  He said this has been a harsh winter and he has worked at several water main breaks in the city. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
