Skyway and Rt. 5 re-open

You can see the wind whipping the awning of our broadcast area. Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of the day the winds whipped to 60 mph and ripped the awning right off. We scrambled to keep our equipment on the roof!

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Winter weather conditions closed a major roadway in Western New York for about an hour Tuesday afternoon.

The Skyway and a portion of Route 5 were closed due to wind and blowing snow, but both have since re-opened.

And an accident that closed the ramp from I-190 North to I-290 East has been cleared away. The ramp has also re-opened.

Drivers also had to deal with slick roads and blowing snow Tuesday morning. There were several crashes around the region.
