Man seeking pills, cash threatens to blow up pharmacy

CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) – Deputies are seeking a man who drove through the drive-thru of the Walgreens in Clarence and threatened to blow up the building unless he was given narcotic prescription pills.

Around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office reports the suspect, described as a white male wearing a dark-colored face mask that only showed his eyes, entered the drive-thru at the pharmacy at Transit and Griener and passed a note to the clerk through the box. The note demanded specific narcotic prescription pills and cash and claimed there was a bomb in the building.

Walgreens staff complied with the man’s demands and he drove off in an unknown make, older model maroon SUV.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
