Former postmaster admits pocketing cash

usps post office postal stamp

FREWSBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – A former postmaster on the southern tier admitted Thursday that she stole more than $14,000 from the USPS.

Between 1999 and 2013, 51-year-old Donna Spencer served as postmaster at the Post Office in Frewsburg. The Falconer resident would accept cash payments from customers who were buying stamps and instead of putting it in the register, would put it in her own pockets.

In all, Spencer stole more than $14,000. She pleaded guilty Thursday to misappropriation of postal funds.

She will be sentenced in May and could face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
