Illegal window tint leads to man’s arrest

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo man stopped on the NYS Thruway for having illegally tinted windows was arrested after troopers say they found marijuana in his vehicle.

State Police stopped 22-year-old Charles Washington just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday on the I-90 in the Town of Rotterdam for having dark windows. A license check revealed the Buffalo man had seven active suspensions on his license.

Troopers say they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and a subsequent check uncovered a partially burnt marijuana cigarette and a bag of pot.

Washington was arrested on charges of second degree aggravated unlicensed operation and fourth degree criminal possession of marijuana.

He posted $500 bail and is due back in court next week. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
