DEPEW, N.Y. (WIVB) – A long-standing banquet hall on Dick Road in Depew is closing its doors, effective at midnight on March 7.
The Hearthstone Manor, which now goes by the name “The New Hearthstone,” and has been hosting wedding receptions, seminars and awards dinners for nearly 50 years. It is considered one of the top venues in this area for wedding receptions. But it is now closing.
Erica Pawlewski picked the Hearthstone for her wedding in April and now, with her wedding less than two months away, she is upset about the late notice.
“What the Hearthstone is doing, and the fact that they are just walking away from all of these parties that are planned, and people that are right up on their wedding is absolutely outrageous, it’s outrageous,” she said.
The Buffalo Bridal Association says they are working to find emergency plans for brides who had booked weddings at the location. You can reach the association by calling 884-5391.
Pawlewski said, “There are places that are booked, there places that can’t do anything like the Hearthstone was supposed to do for us. It is a complete and total change.”
In a statement released on Facebook, the owners said:
“The Hearthstone Manor remains open for business. Although we face the same challenges as many businesses in Western New York, we are committed to meeting our obligations to our customers. In order that our customers can rest assured that events booked with The Hearthstone will be honored we are working with several partners in the hospitality business. Although we have no intention of discussing our guests’ events in a public forum, in the coming days, we will personally call everyone who has an event booked with us to discuss exactly how we can accommodate them. We thank our customers for their loyalty to the Hearthstone Manor.”
