Alleged drunk driver hits car in bar parking lot

CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) – Deputies caught up to an alleged drunk driver who backed into a car in the parking lot of a bar on Main Street in Clarence.

A security guard witnessed the accident early Friday morning and called the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. After the accident, the guard says the driver exited the vehicle and got in the passenger seat and was driven home by a person who left the bar.

The guard was able to turn over the license plate number to the pickup truck, and deputies tracked down the driver to his home.

Twenty-three-year-old Mitchell Rehwaldt of Akron was taken into custody and charged with DWI.
